It’s really true what they say about arrested development, that the personality and emotional development of an individual stops when substance abuse starts.

Eric
(not
his
real
name)
was
a
patient
in
the
locked
down
side
of
this
psychiatric
hospital.
They
would
let
him
sit
in
on
some
of
our
meetings.
He
was
a
big
guy,
sullen,
and
there
was
always
a bigger
male
nurse
that
accompanied
him
at
