Addiction

Here I am in my fifties, still thinkin I'm in my let's say late twenties, lookin pretty good, lovin life in the clean & sober lane wondering how I deserve all this. I have awsome friends, sponsees that drive me nutz (God love em) I have a Higher Power that loves me unconditionally. After being a bartender for twenty years it seemed to loose it's "luster" after I got clean. So, I continued to work behind the bar for my first year in sobriety (yea, it was a real test). But I had to get my ass back to school to learn a new skill & to keep paying my rent/bills. Put myself through school to learn how to become a Licensed Massage Therapist and that's what I have been doing for a living for the past 18 years. I have been blessed with awesome clients and one is the owner of a travel agency. She offered me a job doing parttime outside sales and now I do that too AND go on an average of 4-5 cruises a year & most of the time I bring a bunch of clean & sober friends along too!! Life is good, and then again I am an alchoholic & I need to deal with all the head stuff that the rest of you do too... ie. self worth, entitlements, ego, pride etc. etc... I think one of my biggest gifts is that I know in my heart that I will always have something to work on as I am a work in progress and hope to always remain teachable (my sponsee's teach me a sh*tload!! (LOL) I like this site & hope to make lot's of new friends while continuing to be my own fest friend... Love & Peace... Tom W, Tacoma
