On
the
31st
December
2012
completely
by
accident
my
(then)
10
month
old
son
did
me
a
massive
favour:
he
poked
me
in
the
eye...
well
not
just
a
poke
a
badly
scratched
cornea,
very
very
painful
and
required
hospital
treatment.
This
meant
i
was
unable
to
see
and
ended
up
in
bed
for
4
days. Lying
in
bed
on
New
Years
Eve
gave
me
lots
of
thinking
time,
the
fact
i
couldn't
have
the
case
of
beer
or
whisky
downstairs
and
then
it
hit
me
it
would
be
the
first
time
for
20
years
i
would
be
sober
at
new
years...
leading
to
other
thoughts
about
sober
time
opposed
to
drunk
time,
i
realised
enough
was
enough
and
i
haven't
had
a
drink
since,
i
realise
it's
still
early
days
but
it's
a
start.
