Hi. Just joined this site and was wondering if anyone out there has struggled with codeine addiction as much as myself and managed to beat it? Ive been addicted for 8 years with a month clean here and there. Lost everything - wife, job, car, as well as my confidence and self worth. Been to 3 treatment centres in the 8 years. Going to try a 12 week treatment soon. Anyone had a success story? Clarkev

Dear Clark:

Absolutely you can beat this addiction and live a peaceful life in recovery.  I was a heroin addict for over twelve years.  Before that I was an alcoholic for twelve years.  that's 24 years of addiction, 7 years of recovery.  I read your comment on "smoores" post about your and others prayers not being answered.  If you have been to 3 treatment centers in the past 8 years that's at least 3 times your prayers were answered loudly.  Additionly, God has put AA and NA in your area I'm sure.  My God answeres my prayers many times by putting the things I need to grow and learn within my grasp.  Then it's up to me to use these tools to stay clean.  Frequently today, God puts people still in their addiction in my life so I can offer them the help that was so feely given to me.  We are defined by how we react to adverse situations in our life.  now is the time for you to use the things in your life God has presented to get and stay clean.  If you have to detox then you must immediately look into that.  if you don't have insurance most every local government or county has FREE programs for inpatient detox and treatment.  If your serious about getting and staying clean TODAY is the day to take your FIRST "right" step.  You can do this.  Get and stay strong, recovery is at your doorstep and you deserve it!

God Bless

Alan

Sorry no sucess story for you here but your addiction can be beaten. Personally, I take up to 4, 80mg oxy and sometimes 10 Percocet and have a much bigger challenge ahead but I really want off this roller coaster and if you want it as much as me, and you have the chance to go to in patient care- Do it and embrace it for all it's worth. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!!! Get your life back and be an inspiration to yourself and your family. Good luck.
