To me I still do the 5 things I did in early recovery... 1. Put a plug in the jug. (Don't use no matter what happens, as long as you don't pick up you wont get high) 2. Go to 90 meetings in 90 days. (I go to as many meetings as I can this helps me get to know people and them to know me) 3. Get a book and read it. (I read a lot both Basic Text and the "Big Book" of AA. People can get the facts wrong or explain things wrong, but the book remains the same and true recovery is found there.) 4. Get a Higher Power and use them. (There have been times in my recovery that that no human power could keep me clean/sober. Having a higher power is critical in the hard times.) 5. Get a sponsor and use them. (I have had the same sponsor for the past 8 years. A sponsor helps you work the steps and guides you down the recovery path. Usually its a good idea for men to stick with men and women with women, but there are always exceptions... My sponsor is a woman) You hear sometimes in meetings that insanity is doing the same things over and over expecting different results? Then sanity must mean doing the same thing over and over and expecting the same results. Just wanted to share a bit of my recovery with you. I hope you have a beautiful weekend and a blessed week :)
