I am a single mother of a beautiful little girl who turned 2 years old in May. I drive a school bus and I absolutely love it!!! I am a loyal member of NA and am the secretary of my home group...EEE-KOOSH-EWA!!! I love myself & my life today and would not change that for anything in the world. I love to Live, Love, & Laugh...But that hasn't always been my life. I started using when I was 9 years old. And I created a monster. I got clean the first time on November 20, 1997 because a judge told me it was either that or prison. I stayed clean, but did not work any kind of recovery program. It was by the grace of God that I stayed clean as long as I did...5 years. Actually, the day I had 5 years clean, my 11 1/2 year old son(my first born) was killed by another kid playing with a gun. Needless to say my world was shattered and I relapsed the very next day and within a week I was as bad off as I was 5 years prior. A few years later I woke up, looked at myself in the mirror, and did not like what I saw...so I attempted to walk away, but still not address any of the issues in my life that kept me out there using. Needless to say that didn't work. I went up & down fighting my addiction and losing every time. I finally realized in October of 2005 that I couldn't do it on my own anymore. I had been clean for 2 months and was on my way to find any kind of a mood altering drug/alcohol when I drove to the Puyallup Tribal Treatment Center instead. I remember walking in & going up to the first door I saw open, & telling the lady that I did not have an appointment...But if she couldn't help me right now I knew I would find a drug dealer or liquor store before the day was over. Bless her heart, she told me come on in, shut the door & have a seat. She litterally saved my life. Within 48 hours she had me admitted. I'd have to say that was the smartest decision I've ever made. Thankfully...by the grace of God and the wonderful staff at PTTC and the fellowship of Narcotics Anonymous...I have been clean since August 17, 2005. And for that I am grateful!!!
