Ok, so I'm young.  Most of my friends are young and are the people I used to hang out with and drink with on the weekends and wed and thurs nights.  I've cut them out of my life for the most part and a lot of times when I talk to them now, I tell them I have a drinking problem.  Sometimes they will say "no you don't, you just have to learn to only have a couple when you go out."  What gets me is when they say "no you don't".  What do you say to someone who is almost trying to convince you, you do not have a problem?

Hi. At any age i think we all deal with this somewhat.  My first thought would be that these are not people you need to be hanging out with.  Go to a young persons meeting and meet others who have a similar interest as you.  I have told old aquaintances that i have an allergic reaction to alcohol and that by me drinking it could kill me.  That usually will quiet them for some time.  It is hard enough gettign sober and staying sober that you need to put yourself first and if there are people around you who are not supportive then maybe they need not be around you.  I know it is hard losing friends but it sounds like you guys drank all week together minus monday and tuesday.  I know my friends like that did not want me not to drink b/c it caused them to take a good hard look at themselves.  I think you are doing good and you deserve to have supportive people around you.

Hugs,

Jenn
