I am not sure who wrote this - but this is my current area of where I am striving for spiritual progress
Let Go and Let God
As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend,I brought my broken dreams to God, because he is my friend.
But then instead of leavin him in peace to work alone, I hung around, and tried to help in ways that were my own.
At last, I snatched them back and cried "How can you be so slow?"
"My child," he said, "what could I do? You never did let go."
But when I get down on myself - I remember who I was, and how much progress I have made. This one always reminds me of that - especially since this is something I wrote early in sobriety.
The Snowman
The man stands
frozen
Watching
the branches of life
Pain
A foreign matter?
Icicles on the heart
Emotionless
No sadness,
happiness
No loving
hating
No living
only
dying
Why must i be so cold?
The Thawing
Ice now melting away
running
down the face like
Tears?
A flood now pouring down
Around his heart
The soul
starting to warm
Thawing
Improvement?

was
a
drunk
who
was
so
out
of
it
when
it
came
to
life
that
the
20
feet
to
the
toilet
was
too
long
of
a
walk
-
so
I
kept
a
bottle
next
to
the
bed
so
I
could
empty
my
bladder
without moving
from
my
bed
and
my
alcohol.Today
-

am
