ah yes, principles before personalities - except some of the most obnoxious personalities are within the 4 walls of many meetings. in fact they are there, here, everywhere. one of the disappointing parts of the program, i agree. it's a shame, because it seems like those are the types that stick like a booger to the meetings until they control them, then? wow, they become shut down, monitored, controlled ... much like an alcoholic family: don't talk, don't feel. The pathology of the disease is never stopped, just arrested. i have been sober for 26 years, and trust me, if there is any little white seed of truth to share as the most blessed thing to share? STAY CONNECTED to a program. An all womens Al-Anon, AA, NA, ACoA, Celebrate Recovery, whatever the flavor, just stay connected. Host a meeting at a battered womens shelter, or at a youth homeless shelter. Read recovery materials, and keep recovery friends and reality woven into the fabric of your life. The alternative is that although you may not abuse a substance, the disease will manifest in some other way, particularly terrible is codependency, rageaholism, sex addictions, or other spiritual imbalance. Glad you came back, and visit the site and share. Trying to keep some good sharing and caring woven in! :o) S

happy birthday. hope your day has strawberries in it :o). and that your sobriety is still standing and going well for you even though life, well, it has it's ups and downs. you should write for a living, kids books. you're good at creating a nice visual!
