Goddess grant me:
The power of Water,
to accept with ease &
grace what I cannot change.
The power of Fire,
for the energy & courage
to change the things I can.
The power of Air,
for the ability to know the
difference.
And the power of Earth,
for the strength to
continue my path.

I am independent and self-sufficient. I'm intelligent but not a know-it-all; compassionate but not a pushover. I am not easily offended, but I do have feelings that sometimes get hurt; I like to give but also like to receive; I have a great sense of humor and love to laugh at life, but I'm serious when I need to be; I'm responsible but also playful; like to dream but am grounded in reality; exceedingly easy-going and flexible but sometimes stubborn; sometimes outspoken and outrageous...the list could go on, but that would take the fun out of getting to know me!

A little of my addiction recovery history.

It all started with a 10 week stint in outpatient rehab, 90 day inpatient rehab and 6 months in a sober living house with some AA attendance. Stopped going to AA and enrolled in to a Addiction Disorders Study program at college while staying at the sober living house as a manager. From beginning with rehab to relapse and moving out of the sober living house, I had 4 continuous years clean out of about 4¾ years total in recovery. All that happened between 8/1/96 - 6/1/01 (+/- a few weeks).

In 2/1/03, after doing some more field research, I returned to the same sober living house I left in 01. I put together 9 months there with the help of out patient rehab at the Mental Health Department (MHD) and with AA. Then moved to a cohabitation supported living project. I hooked-up with a wonderful bipolar girl who was still using. I stopped going to AA and it was on again with me and her. She got run off and I managed to keep my relapse into addiction just below being evicted. In 05 I started using harm reduction with support from groups at the MHD and therapy. This time I used SMART Recovery Online (SRO) with no AA. In the past 2+ years I have used 4 times. In percentages, I have remained clean 94% of that time. My aim is total abstinence. I am exceedingly pleased with my overall progress and my mental/emotional health is far more stable than it was during the time I had 4 years clean. The biggest difference in my recovery as of lately is overcoming the reluctance to take my psych meds. I don't like them, but I'm seriously screwed with out them. Plus I try to go too at least one AA meeting a week.

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. ~Chief Seattle

The Dreamcatcher Lore

The American Indians believe that the night air is filled with dreams both good and bad. The dreamcatcher when hung in your place of rest, swinging freely with the air, catches the dreams as they flow by. The good dreams know the way, slipping through the outer holes and slide down the soft feathers so gently that many times the sleeper does not know that he/she is dreaming. The bad dreams not knowing the way, get tangled in the web and perish with the first light of the new day.

War Sucks

These colors don't run the world.
One nation under surveillance.
How did our oil get under their sand?
Go solar, not ballistic.
Who Would Jesus Bomb?
Start drafting SUV drivers now.

Don't blame me, I voted with the majority.
Buck Fush!
It's NUCLEAR, not NUCULAR, you idiot!
Resistance is fertile.
Say can you see my democracy?
It's the oil, stupid.
War is expensive, peace is priceless.
Read between the pipelines.
No More BuSh.
Smart weapons, dumb president.
The only thing we have to fear is Bush himself.
How many lives per gallon?
Patriots are idiots! Matriarchy now!
Peace takes brains.
Anything war can do, peace can do better.
Negotiation not annihilation.
Another patriot for peace.
Drop Bush, not bombs.
Oh say can you cease?
Star spangled bummer.
Don't arm a son of a Bush.
Don't do it George, dad will still love you.
Power to the peaceful.
The last time we listened to a Bush,
we wandered in the desert for 40 years.

Hi Will.. thanks for stopping by.. I'm not getting online much lately cos I've just traveled across country from NC to CA..then I had all my possessions stolen from the girl I came with.. Sara D. form here..I'm safe with Char (just42day) here in los Angeles, but I have very little money left, just a few clothes, no computer, no art supplies, and she stole half of my meds that I'd brought over in bulk.. She took off with everything I had still packed in her car..I'm not sure what I'm going to do next..I can stay here until I find somewhere to live but it's not fair on Char as she has a teenage daughter and her mother living with her in a tiny two b/room house.. she';s given me her couch but I feel like a burden to everyone.. I'm swallowing my pride and asking for help all over the place so I'm waiting to see what happens..I hope you're well & life is going smootly for you. Be well & be safe..love & blessings, mazzy

Joseph Campbell quotes:

"God is a metaphor for that which transcends all levels of intellectual thought. It's as simple as that."

"Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble."

"I don't have to have faith, I have experience."

"Life is without meaning. You bring the meaning to it. The meaning of life is Whatever you ascribe it to be. Being alive is the meaning."

"When we quit thinking primarily about ourselves and our own self-preservation, we undergo a truly heroic transformation of consciousness."

Alan Watts quotes:

"The religious idea of God cannot do full duty for the metaphysical infinity."

'Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes."

"How is it possible that a being with such sensitive jewels as the eyes, such enchanted musical instruments as the ears, and such fabulous arabesque of nerves as the brain can experience itself anything less than a god."

"Really, the fundamental, ultimate mystery -- the only thing you need to know to understand the deepest metaphysical secrets -- is this: that for every outside there is an inside and for every inside there is an outside, and although they are different, they go together."
